Diversified mountain world
The Sauerland Höhenflug runs for more than 240 km at an altitude of 400 to 800 m, enabling you to go on walks and hikes just as you please. Pure enjoyment and real challenges are sometimes close together here: for every age and any taste, for long-distance hikers and for those who enjoy brief, high-altitude outings, for lone wanderers, families, friends and larger groups.
The path takes you through four nature parks: Ebbe, Rothaar, Homert and Diemelsee. Those who walk across the whole Höhenflug will easily be accomplishing four eight hundred metre mountains.
Besides the main trail, the Höhenflug offers signposted circular paths for both hikers and ramblers, starting off from many towns and parking places for hikers and ramblers. Between wonderful mountain ridge paths, narrow hiking trails lead to brooks and ravines and through upland moors and heaths.
So close to the sky. Only flying is better!
Experience the numerous panoramic viewpoints along the route of the Sauerland of a thousand mountains. You will climb up look-outs and enjoy breathtaking panoramic views. You will enjoy local nature and animal life in perfect peace and tranquillity, far away from the hustle and bustle of civilisation. You will come across many species of birds and with a little luck you are very likely to discover the Rotmilan circling around the Höhenflug.
Just like this impressive bird, the Sauerland Höhenflug also offers hikers splendid views. Only flying is better.
